Tumbling

AMP Athletics offers Tumble classes that provide tumbling instruction for athletes of all ages and skill levels. Each class lasts 60 minutes and includes dynamic stretching, a skills warm-up, conditioning, and stations for both standing and running tumbling. To ensure quality instruction, classes maintain a ratio of 8 athletes to 1 coach. Our coaches are highly trained and are required to maintain certification in CPR and Concussion management, along with current training for the tumbling levels they teach.

Tumbling 1

Our Tumble Fundamentals class is designed for beginner tumblers with little to no experience. Level 1 skills include the Bridge, Back Bend, Handstand, Limber, Handstand Bridge, Forward Roll, Backward Roll, and Front and Back Walkover, as well as the Cartwheel. In this class, tumblers will focus on developing flexibility, body control, and building strength to master these skills. Once they have achieved proficiency, athletes will be tested for advancement to the next level.

​Tumbling 2

Tumbling 2 is designed for students who have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of tumbling. In this class, students will continue to perfect their Level 1 skills while also working on Level 2 skills as designated by the USASF. 

The skills covered in this class include:

  • Straddle Press Handstand

  • Back Extension Roll

  • Standing Round Off

  • Standing Back Handspring

  • Cartwheel Back Handspring

  • Back Handspring with a pause before a Back Handspring

  • Back Walkover into Back Handspring

  • Front Walkover into Handspring

  • Round Off Back Handspring and series

  • Front Walkover Round Off Back Handspring

  • Round Off Back Handspring, Step Out, Round Off Back Handspring

  • Front Walkover, Round Off, Back Handspring, Step Out, Round Off Back  

 

This level also introduces front to back running tumbling combination passes. Once students master these skills, they will be tested for advancement to the next level.  Students new to AMP must be evaluated to enroll in this course.  If you are interested, contact us!

Tumbling 3

Tumbling 3 is our intermediate-level tumbling class. Students in this class should have a solid foundation in the basic tumbling skills, as well as a strong understanding of the techniques and skills learned in Level 2. 

In Tumble 3, students will work on USASF Level 3 skills, including:

​

  • Standing Series Back Handsprings

  • Toe Touch Series Back Handsprings

  • Back Handspring Step Out Round Off Back Handspring Tuck

  • Round Off Back Handspring Open Tuck

  • Round Off Open Tuck

  • Front Walkover Round Off Back Handspring Tuck

  • Punch Front

  • Punch Front Forward Roll Round Off Back Handspring Tuck

  • Front Handspring

 

Once students have mastered these skills, they will be evaluated for progression to the next level. Students new to AMP must be evaluated to enroll in this course.  If you are interested, contact us!

Tumbling 4

Tumbling 4 is our advanced-level tumbling class designed for students who have mastered the skills from levels  2 and possess a strong understanding of techniques from level 3. In this level, students will learn a variety of advanced skills, including:

 

  • Standing Tuck

  • Toe Touch pause Back Tuck

  • Standing Series to Tuck and Layout

  • Standing Whip pass to Layout

  • Round Off Back Handspring Layout

  • Round Off Whip to Back Handspring to Layout

  • Cartwheel Tuck

  • Round Off Back Handspring Whip Punch Layout

  • Round Off Back Handspring Layout Step Out

  • Front Handspring Front Through to Layout

  • Full Twisting Somersault.
